Beech Acres Parenting Center says its new 10-year vision aims to equip 500,000 children and families to build on their strengths and achieve wellness. CEO Laura Mitchell says the Cincinnati region should invest in prevention before challenges become crises.
Mitchell’s opinion piece cites national figures showing diagnosed mental health conditions among adolescents rose 35% from 2016 to 2023, with anxiety and depression leading the way. It says fewer than half of children experiencing a mental health condition receive care from a mental health professional.
Beech Acres says nearly 5,000 parents and caregivers seek its support each year, and almost 90% report feeling more confident and calm in their parenting. Over the next decade, the organization plans to reach families earlier, strengthen pathways to wellness, partner to transform communities and innovate approaches that work.
