Skip Bayless said Oklahoma coach Brent Venables is on the hot seat after the Sooners lost 41-13 at Georgia, their second defeat this season. Oklahoma is 2-2 despite giving Venables a six-year, $63 million extension and will face No. 1 Texas on Oct. 10 after a bye.
Georgia led 14-0 when Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer fumbled at the Bulldogs’ 2-yard line; Chris Cole returned it 86 yards for a touchdown, making it 21-0. Oklahoma had no points and 140 yards at halftime.
Oklahoma’s extension was approved by the Board of Regents and runs through January 2032, averaging $10.5 million a year. Athletic director Roger Denny said work on the deal began after the 2025 playoff run and that he strongly believed in Venables and the program’s direction.
