Barkley says he’ll play in Week 3; Dowdle and Coleman ruled out

The Big Lead

Week 3: Saquon Barkley says he’ll play Monday; Kyle Monangai is expected to play after Friday’s full practice. Steelers’ Rico Dowdle and Broncos’ Jonah Coleman are out Sunday; Jaylen Warren is questionable but expected to lead Pittsburgh’s backfield if active.

Barkley was limited early in the week while recovering from a stinger, then practiced fully Friday. Monangai had a knee issue and missed Thursday’s practice before returning to a full session Friday; Chicago’s final injury report was due Saturday afternoon.

Quinshon Judkins, Jadarian Price, Aaron Jones, RJ Harvey, J.K. Dobbins, Travis Etienne and Tony Pollard were removed from injury reports Friday. Steelers running backs coach Ramon Chinyoung said Warren would lead the backfield with Dowdle out. The backup role remained uncertain, with practice-squad player Travis Homer the report’s likeliest choice over Lew Nichols and rookie Eli Heidenreich. Coleman did not practice all week and was described as questionable at best for Week 4.
