A third measles case has been linked to exposure aboard a Chicago-bound train on Aug. 27, St. Louis County health officials said. The state listed possible exposure sites the person visited during a two-day St. Louis stay, including Busch Stadium and a popular bar.
Two other people who were on the train were diagnosed with measles earlier this week. The county health department urged residents to review vaccination records and monitor for symptoms; anyone who thinks they may have been exposed should contact a health care provider before seeking care.
The CDC reported 3,471 confirmed U.S. measles cases this year, the highest total in 35 years. A fourth person died in Pennsylvania last week, making 2026 the deadliest year for measles this century. The CDC also said kindergarten vaccination rates had fallen to 92.4%; herd immunity is associated with a 95% rate.
