Alleigha Botner testified that Caleb Flynn said he wanted his wife Ashley dead and had considered ways to kill her. Flynn is on trial for aggravated murder over Ashley’s February 16 shooting death and has pleaded not guilty.
Investigators recovered AI-generated love songs from Flynn’s phone, including two versions with similar lyrics that were played at trial. Prosecutors allege he shot Ashley twice in the back of the head as she slept, motivated by a desire to be with Botner, then altered the scene to resemble a deadly home invasion.
Flynn’s defense acknowledges the affair but argues it does not establish murder; attorney Emily Smith said selfish decisions are not necessarily criminal. Flynn also faces two counts of felonious assault and three counts of tampering with evidence. The trial is due to resume Monday and is expected to conclude by the end of next week.
