At least four visitors have sued Six Flags over alleged injuries on its X2 coaster; their law firm says it represents more than 100 people who say they were hurt. Six Flags closed the Valencia, California, ride July 12 and declined further comment amid pending litigation.
Patrick Plumlee alleges his head hit the headrest during a September 2024 ride, causing a traumatic brain injury. Michael Wilk’s lawsuit says he developed head pain and difficulty walking after riding in February 2026; an MRI showed bleeding, swelling and a brain shift, and he underwent two surgeries. Pamela Guillen’s family says she suffered a life-threatening brain injury after the July 5 ride and underwent multiple surgeries. Naomi Greer-Wilkinson’s lawsuit says a July 11 ride left her profoundly disabled, bedridden and on a ventilator, unable to speak or move on her own.
CNN reported in August that its review found dozens of people injured on X2 over two decades and at least two deaths. Guillen’s family alleges Six Flags knew of her July injury but let the ride run without investigating, and knew of earlier incidents. Christopher Hawley, 22, died the day after a 2022 ride; local TV stations reported his family’s suit was settled. Plaintiffs seek medical costs, lost wages and pain-and-suffering compensation. Six Flags referred USA TODAY to its safety webpage, which lists independent inspections, but declined further comment amid pending litigation.
