Marshalls has closed or temporarily shut at least five stores across four states in 2026. The Bridgeport store remains temporarily closed over structural safety concerns; San Antonio's closed after its lease ended, and a replacement site is under construction.
The listed locations were 5102 S. Lake Park Avenue in Chicago; 12635 I-10 W. in San Antonio; 4487 Main Street in Bridgeport; 7013 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles; and 5160 Stevens Creek Boulevard in San Jose. Chicago’s closure was part of Marshalls’ review of its real-estate strategy; Bridgeport shut temporarily over serious concerns about a potential roof collapse. The San Antonio replacement site is 5811 Worth Parkway, Suite 109, where construction was still underway; reports gave no specific reason for the Los Angeles or San Jose closures.
TJX continued to expand overall: in the fiscal quarter ended Aug. 1, 2026, its store count rose by 23 to 5,285, including 1,267 Marshalls stores. For fiscal Q2 2027, net sales rose 5% year over year, comparable sales 4% and diluted EPS 24% to $1.36. The company plans to increase store-opening growth to 4% next year and has a long-term goal of 7,500 stores across its banners; it also closed at least four TJ Maxx stores in three states in 2026.
