Arizona opens Big 12 play at Colorado on Sunday, Sept. 27, at noon MST, after the Buffaloes lost 3-0 to Utah on Friday. The 5-6 Wildcats need wins and quality competition to improve their RPI and pursue a second straight NCAA Tournament berth.
Colorado averages 12.49 kills per set, with senior Ana Burilovic contributing 4.23, 17th nationally. Arizona averages 14.14 digs per set to the Buffaloes’ 11.38, but Colorado leads the Big 12 in limiting opponents to a .145 hitting percentage; Arizona is hitting .197.
The match is at CU Events Center in Boulder and will stream on ESPN+. Arizona coach Rita Stubbs said Colorado targets particular passers; the Wildcats’ leading kills-per-set player, Destiny Ndam-Simpson, sometimes leaves the court for passing. Stubbs said how well she handles that pressure will influence her playing time.
