Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5 on Sept. 28, the second model in its 5.5 family, keeping Sonnet 5’s prices at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. The company says it uses fewer tokens for the same work and is suited to routine enterprise tasks.
Anthropic called Sonnet 5.5 a faster, lower-cost complement to Opus 5.5, launched the previous week at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens. It said a third model, Haiku 5.5, designed for fast, high-volume work, is due soon.
Anthropic said enterprise customers account for about 80% of its business, naming Salesforce, Databricks, Goldman Sachs and Novo Nordisk among its clients. CEO Dario Amodei earlier this month called on the global AI community to slow the release of new capabilities to address safety concerns, amid growing debate over AI risks.
