Texas state Sen. Angela Paxton urged Republican women on Sept. 18 to vote for the party’s candidates, saying the U.S. Senate seat mattered more than a candidate, even if party members were angry. She did not name her estranged husband, GOP nominee Ken Paxton.
Ken Paxton defeated U.S. Sen. John Cornyn by 28 percentage points in the May 26 runoff after challenging him in the 2026 Republican primary. He now faces Democratic state Rep. James Talarico in November. Recent polling cited in the article showed Talarico narrowly ahead, within or just outside the poll’s margin of error.
Angela Paxton filed for divorce from Ken Paxton on “biblical grounds” in July 2025, a few months after he announced his challenge to Cornyn. At the time, she did not say whether she supported her husband or Cornyn in the Senate race.
