Amber King has been discharged after multiple surgeries for life-threatening injuries from a Sept. 8 dog attack in San Francisco’s Tenderloin. She told KGO-TV a dog she was asked to watch broke free and bit her arms and hands, causing loss of mobility in both arms.
King estimated the attack lasted 10 to 15 minutes before police arrived. Police and animal-control officers used a catchpole to detain the dog, which later died at the scene. The San Francisco Police Department told SFGATE on Wednesday that it had made no arrests.
King, who is homeless, told KGO-TV she hopes to find permanent housing as she recovers. Her friend Rachel Guido, who organized a GoFundMe, said King needs 24-hour care.
