Amazon raised Prime’s price in Mexico by 30.3% on Monday, from 99 to 129 pesos; it was the service’s first increase there. The last U.S. increase was in 2022, but Amazon has not confirmed another.
TheStreet described U.S. Prime increases as following a four-year pattern: prices rose in 2014, 2018 and 2022. The last increase was 17%, from $119 to $139; Amazon cited rising wages and transportation costs at the time.
Other Amazon offerings have also become costlier. Fortune reported a 60% increase in prices for devices including Echo speakers and Kindles in August, citing memory costs; The Verge reported that Prime Video’s ad-free, 4K tier nearly doubled in April.
