Aldi says it will introduce ready-to-eat meals in its U.S. stores next month, its first such launch in the country. Five single-serve options will cost under $8 each, and two family-size meals will be priced below $15, the company said.
Options include butter chicken with rice, chicken fettuccine alfredo, and macaroni and cheese with chicken and bacon. Aldi describes the meals as “restaurant-quality.”
A July analysis by the International Food Information Council found that convenience ranked ahead of healthiness for grocery shoppers for the first time. McKinsey reported that roughly one-quarter of consumers buy grocery-prepared foods as a substitute for restaurant orders.
