Before Saturday’s home game against South Carolina, Alabama writer Hunter De Siver predicts the Crimson Tide will start fast and win decisively; Alabama has beaten the Gamecocks by a combined nine points in their past two meetings.
Alabama won 29-22 at Columbia last October after Deontae Lawson forced a late fumble and Germie Bernard scored on a 25-yard touchdown run. In 2024, the Tide won 27-25 at home; South Carolina missed a two-point attempt, recovered an onside kick, then had its final pass intercepted by Domani Jackson.
De Siver says Alabama needs to correct its bad starts against Kentucky and Florida State; the Tide won those games by a combined 42 points. Alabama is again in the top 10 while South Carolina is unranked, and Alabama’s next five opponents are all currently ranked.
