Alabama returned to SEC play with a 49-18 home win over South Carolina on Saturday night. Sophomore quarterback Keelon Russell completed 21 of 27 passes for 365 yards and four touchdowns, and ran for 35 yards and another score on eight carries.
After a three-and-out to open, Alabama scored touchdowns on its next four drives and then got a pick-six from Red Morgan. The defense held South Carolina to 3 of 14 on third down but allowed 3 of 5 on fourth down. Running back AK Dear and receiver Noah Rogers made their season debuts after missing the previous three games with injuries; Dear had one carry for one yard, while Rogers caught one pass for 36 yards.
