After White House launch, Trump firm seeks ‘TRUMP TV’ trademark

NEWSWEEK

DTTM Operations, which manages Trump-brand trademarks, filed Sept. 24 to register “TRUMP TV,” three days after the White House launched its 24-hour channel. The application covers TV, streaming, apps and news; Gerben says government use requires a license.

The application was filed on an intent-to-use basis, covers four international trademark classes and carried a $1,400 fee. It will undergo USPTO examination; Gerben said the agency currently takes about five months to begin a substantive review.

Trump personally consented to registering the mark, and the filing says his consent is “of record.” Gerben said written consent is a routine procedural requirement for registering a mark that identifies a living person. Newsweek said it had requested comment from the White House and DTTM Operations.
