After Oregon beat USC 41-27 in Los Angeles for its fifth straight win in the series, coach Dan Lanning urged local recruits to choose the Ducks and took a jab at USC’s crowd size. Oregon rallied after starting quarterback Dante Moore left early.
Speaking to recruits watching from the sideline, Lanning said area football players should choose Oregon or stay in Los Angeles for a Chris Brown concert. He also said he had not seen USC’s previous three televised home games packed and that the Coliseum was packed for Oregon’s visit.
The programs compete for West Coast recruits. Oregon had missed out on key prospects to USC in the previous two cycles as some chose to stay closer to home; USC had regained ground in the region after Oregon built a pipeline from Los Angeles to Eugene. Lanning hopes the win brings future recruiting gains.
