After about a year, Andrew Bailey is leaving FBI's co-deputy director role

Andrew Bailey will leave the FBI's co-deputy director post after about a year, saying he is stepping down to return to his family in Missouri. The FBI has not said whether it will name a replacement or Chris Raia will remain the sole co-deputy director.

Bailey took the post in September 2025 after resigning as Missouri attorney general. He said he was proud of what had been accomplished and expressed confidence that FBI Director Kash Patel would continue reforms; Patel called Bailey's contribution to instituting critical reforms “fantastic,” The New York Times reported. Dan Bongino, who shared the co-deputy role, left in January to return to podcasting and was replaced by career FBI special agent Chris Raia.
