Adrian Campossevilla, 28, faces charges of vehicular homicide and strict liability vehicular homicide after authorities said he was drinking and speeding when his SUV struck and killed Donna Bass, 64, in Elizabeth on May 16. He is held pending a Tuesday court appearance.
Authorities said the collision happened at 11:30 p.m. on the 500 block of Newark Avenue as Bass tried to cross North Broad Street. Bass, an Elizabeth resident, died of her injuries at an area hospital.
Court records say Campossevilla is being held at the Essex County jail pending his first appearance Tuesday. His attorney, Robert L. Grady, did not immediately return a call seeking comment Friday.
