Rutgers beat Howard 58-7 for its first win of 2026 after opening the season 0-3, piling up 534 yards of offense. The Scarlet Knights scored twice in the first five minutes and added 37 unanswered points; the victory was Greg Schiano’s 100th as head coach.
Quarterback Dylan Lonergan completed 12 of 17 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. Running back Antwan Raymond rushed for 140 yards and three scores. Receiver KJ Duff caught five passes for 131 yards and set a Rutgers record with a receiving touchdown in his fifth consecutive game. The defense had two interceptions, four sacks and a fumble recovery.
Rutgers is scheduled to host No. 5 Indiana on Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. at SHI Stadium, in a game that will also be the team’s homecoming and blackout game. Coverage will be on the Big Ten Network.
