Russian airstrikes killed at least two people and injured 14 in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Saturday. He said the deaths occurred in Zaporizhzhya; attacks were also reported in Kyiv and the regions of Odessa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Mykolaiv and Vinnytsia.
Zelensky called for tougher US and EU sanctions, saying Russia was escalating daily. He also confirmed Ukrainian drone attacks on the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region and a defense plant in Rostov. Putin later threatened heavier strikes, describing them as retaliation for a major Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow on the day of Russia’s parliamentary election.
