Yordan Álvarez is MLB’s fifth player to post 40-plus homers, 100-plus RBIs and 30-plus intentional walks in a season before age 30, according to Francys Romero. His 41 homers and 102 RBIs have helped the Astros stay tied atop the AL West with five games left.
In Tuesday’s 7-0 win over Seattle, Álvarez homered and drove in three runs. He is batting .314/.431/.601 with a 1.033 OPS, the highest in MLB this season, and is tied with Junior Caminero for the American League home-run lead.
The other players to reach the feat are Albert Pujols, Ryan Howard, Barry Bonds and Kevin Mitchell. Pujols was the most recent, doing so with St. Louis in 2009.
