The XRP Ledger’s PermissionDelegationV1_1 upgrade could activate Oct. 5 if support remains at 80% or higher. Twenty-nine of 35 validators backed it as a 14-day countdown began Sept. 21; the feature would let account holders delegate specific permissions.
Each delegate could receive up to 10 specific permissions, which the main account could revoke at any time. For example, a compliance system could approve customers without moving funds, while a payments desk could process transactions without changing security settings. Stablecoin issuers and custodians could run routine operations through internet-connected systems while keeping full-control keys offline.
This is the feature’s second attempt. The original version was pulled in September 2025 after a community tester found a flaw on a test network: an attacker could make another account pay fees for improperly signed transactions, potentially draining its XRP through repeated submissions. Validators rejected that version before it went live. The replacement, in xrpld 3.3.0, changes how unauthorized transactions are handled so fees cannot be charged before a signature is verified.
