Xiaomi’s 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are now available in China, pairing a 2.7-inch rear screen for notifications and selfies with a customizable Privacy Display. A global launch is planned later this year, but Xiaomi has not announced a date.
Xiaomi says its Privacy Display is more effective than Samsung’s, crediting a unique pixel arrangement that it says avoids compromising display quality. The customizable mode can hide apps and notifications, as well as split-screen and floating apps; the rear screen also lets users preview selfies from the rear 200MP cameras.
The phones are the first to reach market with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series. The 18 Pro has a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery and the Pro Max an 8,500mAh battery, up to 1,000mAh more than the 17 Pro series.
