Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife left Washington on Friday after a state visit. Xi and Donald Trump confirmed two more meetings: Trump said he will visit China in November for his second visit there this year, then meet Xi at the G20 Summit in Miami in December.
The visit concluded with tea for the two couples in the White House Red Room, followed by a National Archives tour where they viewed the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. It also included a military review, flyovers and a state dinner attended by tech and business leaders.
The White House bilateral meetings on Thursday were closed to reporters. Asked Friday whether the leaders discussed the Iran conflict, Trump acknowledged they had but gave no details. Protests against the Chinese government took place across Washington, with demonstrators at times clashing with pro-Chinese government protesters.
