Vikings cornerback Isaiah Rodgers was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week on Wednesday after blocking a 23-yard field-goal try in Minnesota’s 9-3 win over Chicago. The kick could have tied the game with six minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Rodgers is Minnesota’s first weekly award recipient this season and his second since joining the team. He previously won NFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 3 last season after returning an interception and a fumble for touchdowns in the same quarter. He is also the only NFL player with at least one blocked kick in each of the past three seasons.
Minnesota’s previous blocked field goal came in Week 9 of 2025, when Levi Drake Rodriguez blocked a kick against Detroit and Rodgers recovered the loose ball. Rodriguez also received the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award for that performance.
