UTSA overcame a 14-0 deficit to beat Colorado State 59-45 at the Alamodome Saturday, as the teams' 104 points made it the highest-scoring regulation FBS game since November 2024. They also combined for 1,042 yards and two kickoff-return touchdowns.
Colorado State opened with Mel Brown's 94-yard kickoff return, followed by a 74-yard touchdown pass from K'saan Farrar, starting for injured Hauss Hejny, to Terrence Smith Jr. UTSA answered with five straight touchdowns for a 35-14 second-quarter lead. Mekhi Anderson later returned a kickoff for a touchdown and caught a 14-yard score. After UTSA recovered a late onside kick, A'Marion Peterson's 47-yard touchdown sealed the win.
UTSA quarterback Owen McCown passed for 303 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. Brandon High Jr., Will Henderson III and Peterson combined for 225 rushing yards and four touchdowns; Anderson had 180 all-purpose yards and two scores. UTSA is 3-1 and opens American Conference play next week at Rice.
