A MoneyLion study found on-campus students at USC and Pepperdine paid over $95,000 in total costs in 2024–25. An Avast survey found 68% of U.S. respondents with an older loved one said that person had fallen victim to an online scam, identity theft or fraud.
Separately, Starbucks is closing about 250 locations as it reduces its store count amid turnaround efforts. The company had not announced which cafés would be affected; customers were to start seeing closure signs at affected locations that weekend.
