UCLA beat Purdue 52-38 after giving up a 21-7 first-quarter lead, totaling 645 yards. Maryland lost 35-26 to Virginia Tech after trailing by as many as 21 points. Terrapins quarterback Malik Washington threw for 359 yards and three touchdowns in the loss.
UCLA has won two of the teams’ three all-time meetings, including a 20-17 victory at the Rose Bowl on Oct. 18 last season.
