The San Francisco Giants lost 4-2 to the Twins on Wednesday, ending their penultimate 2026 series. They managed five hits and had 16 straight batters retired from the fourth through ninth; the defeat guaranteed a losing record at Oracle Park with three games left.
Shay Whitcomb put San Francisco ahead with a two-run single in the fourth, but Minnesota tied the game in the fifth and took the lead in the seventh. An errant throw by first baseman Christian Koss and a later walk helped the Twins add runs. Cesar Perdomo allowed two earned runs on five hits over 5⅓ innings.
The Giants’ 16-32 record against American League teams was the worst in the majors. With three games left, they could no longer win four straight; achieving that streak would have been a franchise first.
