Indiana’s Turbo Richard is suspected of a high ankle sprain from Friday’s 29-23 win over Northwestern, CBS Sports reported. No return timeline has been announced; with Khobie Martin out, Indiana could have three healthy scholarship backs if Richard misses time.
Lee Beebe Jr. took over after Richard left, rushing 24 times for 203 yards and a touchdown. If Richard misses time, Beebe, redshirt freshman Sean Cuono and 2026 signee Jayreon Campbell are the available scholarship backs; Cuono and Campbell have little college experience.
Richard went down in the second quarter near the Indiana sideline in a hip-drop tackle by Northwestern’s Jamaal Johnson. He had 68 yards on nine carries and did not return. Coach Curt Cignetti said Brendan Flakes also hit Richard after he was out of bounds, but officials did not throw a flag. Indiana’s next game is at Rutgers.
