Turang’s fifth-inning homer lifts Brewers to franchise-record 102nd win

SB Nation

Brice Turang’s two-run homer in the fifth gave Milwaukee the lead, and the Brewers held on to beat St. Louis 3-2 for their 102nd win, extending their franchise record. Turang reached 99 RBIs, one short of 100 for the first time in his career.

Milwaukee had trailed 2-0 after St. Louis scored off Dustin May in the second and Alec Burleson homered in the third; Jackson Chourio’s RBI single cut the gap. Kyle Harrison struck out four in two scoreless innings, allowing only a hit batter. JoJo Romero, Antonio Senzatela and Aaron Ashby closed out the final four innings without allowing a baserunner.

The Cardinals fell to 77-84 with one regular-season game remaining. A postgame update said Joey Ortiz’s MRI showed no bone bruise, though he had abdominal swelling. He will sit out Sunday’s game, but nothing concerning was found.
