Trump plans to take Xi Jinping to the National Archives on Friday, where Xi is expected to see the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights before departing Washington after a three-day visit with no major breakthroughs on trade or AI safety.
The leaders met behind closed doors for 90 minutes Thursday, discussing the Middle East, Ukraine and the Korean Peninsula, according to China’s official readout; the White House had not provided information on the talks. Trump had shown Xi a wall-mounted copy of the Declaration of Independence in the Oval Office earlier Thursday.
