President Donald Trump is scheduled to rally for Oklahoma Republican gubernatorial nominee Mike Mazzei at the Choctaw Nation Event Center in Durant on Oct. 1. The Trump 47 Committee is hosting; the Choctaw Nation says it is not hosting or endorsing a candidate.
Doors are scheduled to open at 2 p.m., with the program beginning at 6 p.m. Central. Choctaw Nation Chief Gary Batton welcomed Trump and said he hoped the visit would help the president learn about tribal sovereignty. Batton said it would be the third visit by a sitting U.S. president to the Nation; Barack Obama visited in 2015 and Theodore Roosevelt in 1905.
