Trump plans 10 p.m. Sunday dinner with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei

President Trump said he planned a 10 p.m. Sunday dinner with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, two days after an appeals court rejected the company’s challenge to its supply-chain-risk designation, allowing the Pentagon to keep removing Claude from its systems.

The dispute began in February, when Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth accused Anthropic of endangering national security and designated it a supply chain risk. Amodei had refused to back down over concerns that the company’s products could be used for mass surveillance or autonomous armed drones.

Earlier this month, Amodei called for the AI industry to slow development so safety measures could catch up. He warned that within six to 12 months, AI could be capable of leading a swarm of agents that could take over the entire internet. Trump has often argued that AI must stay ahead of China.
