Travis Kelce will miss the 2026 VMAs on Sept. 27, when he is scheduled to face the Miami Dolphins with the Kansas City Chiefs. Taylor Swift is set to receive the inaugural Artist Director Honors, and the official video for “Patient Zero” will premiere at the ceremony.
Swift has nine nominations, including video and artist of the year. A press release says the new honor recognizes artists whose behind-camera work has expanded music-video storytelling. Snoop Dogg is set to host; Madonna leads the nominations with 11.
The ceremony is scheduled for the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will air on CBS, simulcast on MTV and stream on Paramount+. Nirvana will receive the Video Vanguard Award, and Madonna is set to open the show with her first live performance at the VMAs in 23 years.
