Freshmen Said El Eyssami, Rodrigo Neri and Franklin Affanyi helped No. 4 Maryland beat then-No. 7 Wisconsin, 1-0. El Eyssami scored in the 49th minute, Neri took three shots, one on goal, and Affanyi played all 90 minutes in defense.
El Eyssami has four goals in five appearances this season, including three game-winners—the second-most in all of collegiate soccer. Neri has three goals and leads Maryland with 23 shots. Affanyi has played 603 minutes, second-most on the team, and completed 90 minutes in all but one game.
Three of Maryland’s next four games are against ranked teams: No. 2 Indiana, No. 11 Michigan State and No. 21 Rutgers.
