A military plane crash in the Democratic Republic of Congo killed all 13 aboard Friday, including three army officers. After a technical problem, it tried to land in Kenge but crashed into a residential plot; no runway was available, a provincial official said.
The plane was traveling from Kikwit to Kinshasa, according to Kwango Vice Governor Remy Saki Bokinda. Among those aboard was General Likulia Bakumi, the army’s auditor general; a major, a captain, other military personnel and civilians were also on board. Bokinda said 12 people were burned beyond recognition and the pilot’s body was found outside the aircraft. Congo’s aviation accident investigation authority is launching a probe, the government said.
