Teradyne unveils three AI-focused test instruments; Q2 revenue rises 104%

Insider Monkey

Teradyne introduced three UltraFLEXplus instruments on Sept. 1 for AI and data-center chip testing. Q2 2026 revenue rose 104% year over year to $1.329 billion, while management projected Q3 revenue of $1.2 billion to $1.3 billion.

The products are the UltraPin5000-EM, UltraPort-PCIe6 and UltraVS64-HP. The article says they offer, respectively, 80 times more vector memory, 64 Gbps I/O protocol testing and up to 1,280 amps per instrument. Semiconductor Test sales totaled $1.122 billion in Q2, up 128% year over year, with memory testing a significant driver. Non-GAAP EPS was $2.47, up more than 300%.

The article flags semiconductor-equipment cyclicality and 9-to-12-month customer qualification periods, which can require inventory spending before revenue arrives. It says exposure to DRAM and NAND testing could pressure margins through product mix; if customer ramps stall or chip spending weakens, specialized-instrument inventory could weigh on near-term cash conversion.
