Tahoe Joe’s closed its Visalia, Calif., site Sept. 21; only its Fresno and Bakersfield restaurants remain. An employee told KSEE she and more than 30 workers received no advance notice; a regional director cited the chain’s failure to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Founded in 1996, Tahoe Joe’s once operated at least 12 locations. The chain has closed 10 since shuttering its Folsom restaurant in 2012; MTY Food Group acquired it in September 2022 after BBQ Holdings bought it out of Fresh Acquisitions’ Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2021.
