Survivor honored editor Finian Shea Johnson during its season 51 premiere on Sept. 23. Johnson died on May 25 at 48 and worked on 78 episodes of the series; his work on Survivor 50 earned him and his collaborators a 2026 Emmy nomination.
The end-of-episode tribute read, “In loving memory of Finian Shea Johnson.” The nomination is for Outstanding Picture Editing for a Structured Reality or Competition Program.
Host and showrunner Jeff Probst said Johnson joined the show in season 45 and remained through season 51. Probst praised his work ethic and said Johnson was a devoted fan who enjoyed working on a series he could watch with his children.
