After Indiana beat Minnesota 96-77 on Tuesday, the Fever posted video of Sophie Cunningham launching a ball into the arena’s second deck. On Wednesday, she joked, “Call me Patrick Mahomes from here on out.” She scored 11 points and reached 2,000 career WNBA points.
Cunningham made 4 of 7 shots, including three 3-pointers, in 29 minutes, adding two rebounds, two assists and a plus-17 rating. Indiana improved to 28-15 and was scheduled to visit Minnesota Thursday for its final regular-season game, with tipoff at 9 p.m. ET.
Cunningham is a longtime Kansas City Chiefs fan who has publicly supported Mahomes and the team. Fever coach Stephanie White praised her response after she played only seven minutes in Sunday's loss to the Washington Mystics.
