Emmy Rossum says nude scenes on “Shameless” complicated her dating life because men she dated made assumptions about who she was and her sexuality. She recalled an aspiring politician asking whether dating her could make a future run for office difficult.
Rossum began “Shameless” at 24, during what she described as a difficult time to date as a young actress. She said she was figuring out who she was as an artist, while people could confuse her body’s role in her work with her identity.
