Scott Curran says workplace purpose and allyship can help retain talent

Forbes

Social-impact lawyer and Beyond Advisors CEO Scott M. Curran says companies can strengthen workplace culture and retain talent by connecting purpose to meaningful action and employee allyship. He argues that purpose-led cultures can also support business performance.

Curran argues that shared purpose and human connection can foster trust, reduce burnout and improve team performance. He points to employee charitable-gift matching and support for local initiatives as examples of how companies can turn stated values into action.

For nonprofits and social-impact organizations, Curran promotes a four-part BOPP structure: Board, Operations, Programs and Partnerships. As a starting point for workplace conversations, he suggests asking employees what the organization uniquely does to make the world better, then listening for motivators and opportunities for internal allyship.
