A SB Nation column turned Oklahoma coach Brent Venables’ sideline reaction during the final moments of the Sooners’ 41-13 loss to Georgia into a joke, offering several imagined explanations for what he might have been thinking rather than reporting his actual thoughts.
The mock options referenced the “defense wins championships” saying, Lincoln Riley at USC, a hypothetical news alert about Dabo Swinney being fired and a joke about Mateer. The column invited readers to add their own speculation in the comments.
