Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville helicopter crash kills four people

A helicopter crash killed four people in Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville, about 50km from Montreal, on Saturday. Quebec provincial police said the occupants were declared dead at the scene; the victims have not been identified, and the aircraft appeared to be a private helicopter.

The Sûreté du Québec’s Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation, working with crime-scene technicians and investigators from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada. Emergency services were called shortly after 14:30 local time; the fire was under control about an hour later, but officials remained at the site shortly before 22:00.

Police said identifying the victims may take a few days. The crash site is near Rang des Écossais road, off Highway 10.
