Dr. Rachel Danis says she began to see a future with Patrick Clancy after watching him warmly interact with her sister, Lauren, who has Down syndrome, following the 2024 NYC Half Marathon. She recalled the moment in a bonus clip from their “60 Minutes” interview.
Danis said she had not initially taken the relationship seriously and learned only later that Clancy had taken a candid photo of her hugging Lauren after the race. She became emotional recalling it, saying he had seen what mattered to her. She also said a small circle of friends and family were worried when she revealed whom she was dating, and that she initially had reservations too.
Clancy and Danis met in Central Park in March 2024, about a year after his three children died, and married there in April 2026. The article says they are starting a family.
