Proctor and Savaiinaea draw contrasting reviews in Dolphins' first two games

SB Nation

Miami guards Kadyn Proctor and Jonah Savaiinaea each played every offensive snap in the first two games, but their early reviews differ: Proctor is working through assignment and technique errors, while analyst Eric Smith says Savaiinaea has been steady.

PFF's overall grade for Proctor fell from 71.2 against the Raiders on Sept. 13 to 62.0 against the 49ers on Sept. 20; he had one penalty, then two. Savaiinaea's grade rose from 47.6 to 65.9, and he had no penalties. His run-blocking grades were 50.9 and 68.5, compared with pass-protection grades of 38.2 and 46.1.

Smith rated Savaiinaea 9.94/10 and 8.87/10, compared with 3.43/10 and 2.41/10 for Proctor. He said Proctor was not being physically overwhelmed and often corrected assignment, leverage and processing mistakes quickly. The article notes the sample covers only two games and that Smith's favorable evaluations of Savaiinaea diverge from PFF's grades.
