Former prime minister Naftali Bennett was escorted from a Bnei Brak restaurant Thursday amid a disturbance. Police arrested a suspect after an object was thrown toward Bennett, who was not hit. His party said two objects struck a female staffer, who was treated and released.
Bennett’s party said he had been speaking with several yeshiva students for about half an hour when political activists arrived. Reports from the scene said extremists threatened him; footage showed crowds gathering outside as police managed the situation.
Police described the suspect as a passerby and said he was taken to a police station for questioning. Footage also showed right-wing activist Mordechai David in a verbal confrontation with Bennett and those around him.
