Shamika Brown, 43, was arrested Sept. 21, 2026, and booked on 18 counts involving bank fraud and identity theft. State police allege she used false Social Security numbers to collect 16 jackpots totaling more than $41,000 in 2020 to avoid overdue child-support intercepts.
State police said the inquiry began after L'Auberge Casino Baton Rouge reported suspected fraud on Oct. 15, 2024. Brown allegedly used false numbers while trying to claim a $1,264 jackpot, which was not paid. Police said she returned for that same payout on Sept. 21, 2026, when an investigator recognized her. They also attributed a nearly $2,500 jackpot at another Baton Rouge casino in 2023 to Brown.
For certain reportable casino winnings—those requiring a Form W-2G or equivalent—Louisiana law directs covered gaming operators to deduct qualifying child-support debt and send it to the Department of Children and Family Services before paying any remainder. State police said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may follow. Brown is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
